Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál
As I mentioned on the blog I recently paid a few visits to Scoil Mhuire gan Smál in the beautiful town of Graignamanagh. Some of the pupils gave me some of the limericks they wrote and these are below - others will be sending me more of them in the post and I will put them up when they arrive.
Dubray Books and Presentation Primary Kilkenny
On Friday 30th March Noelle Grace from the Children's Section of Dubray's Books here in Kilkenny organised for a Fifth Class from Presentation to come down to the shop for a reading and chat.
Two classes arrived (luckily I had enough chocolate for all of them!) with their teachers and I had a great time with them. Lots of questions which was brilliant - so a big thank you to them for that. And a big thank you to Noelle and Dubrays for inviting me.
I hope that if some of the girls get to read the book over the holidays they will send me in reviews of it.
There is a childrens/young adults bookclub in Dubray's, all are welcome, and if anyone out there wants to become part of this they should pop into the shop and talk to Noelle about it.
Dubray's bookshop have also put up a lovely CBI Awards Shortlist display - here it is and here are the Presentation girls.
KSP 6th Class
Today, Monday 24th October 2011, I visited the KSP 6th Class at their school. I found them to be a mature and interesting class and they did short pieces of creative writing for me based on first line prompts. Some very good results which I have scanned in below. Unfortunately one was torn and would not come out in the scanning - apologies for that.
I enjoyed meeting you all and spending a short time together, and hope you got through all the work you had been left for the rest of the day. Lots of talented writers in this class, keep it up.
On Wednesday week I met the Fifth Class of KSP - a lively group! They did some drawings and poems for me which I have scanned in below. Some of them have not come out very clearly, perhaps the pencil work was a little pale, and in some of the images you will see two drawings or poems on one page - this was just to make the scanning easier.
Thank you t0 Siobhán at the Book Centre, to the parents who brought their children there, to the KSP and especially to the boys and girls of Fifth Class. I enjoyed the afternoon and considering the short time you had to work in you produced some lovely pictures and poems.
